Thurso Community Cafe: A Cozy New Spot to Visit

The new Thurso Community Cafe is housed in the former Clydesdale Bank, which had been vacant for many years. After being in their previous site on Harbour Street, they have recently reopened on Trail Street.

Their business hours are 10 to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. They opened for business on November 7th.

I decided to visit today, November 11, since it was my day off. I got there at 11:30 and was taken aback by the interior design right away. This cafe oozed comfort, friendliness, and modernism. Fairy lights illuminate this comfortable place, which has a corner that felt like a cosy spot, and the walls are painted a warm white and sage green. The conversation and joyful laughter created a beautiful mood. They made the most of the limited room by providing plenty of seating options, including high seating, tables for two or four people, and the previously stated cosy section.

This cafe accepts donations in the form of cash or credit cards. For cash donations, the public trusts the box on the wall to accept the money, and for card donations, a card machine is accessible.

They provided a variety of cakes, brownies, scones, and tiffins at the counter. A variety of premade rolls and salad bowls were placed next to this, along with bottles of water and carbonated beverages like Coke. From 10 to 12, they serve breakfast rolls, followed by a variety of sandwiches and toasties. Depending on the day, they also provide baked tatties, soup, and other specialities.

With choices including latte, tea, herbal tea, Americano, cappuccino, hot chocolate, and decaf, this cafe offers a do-it-yourself coffee maker. They also provide a mocha if you’re like me and adore them, however this is handled by the staff, just like when you request any of their coffee syrup. Although I couldn’t remember her name, one of the employees served me two of the coffees I had ordered, and I was immediately thrilled with how delicious they were. Additionally, I had a bacon roll, which was delicious. They bring a spoon with a number on it to wherever you are sitting after you place your order, and I’ll say it was very fast service.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover a games room with a huge pool table and a second-hand clothing store when I finished my coffee and bacon roll.

If you haven’t already, I would highly recommend taking a look at this beautiful new addition to the town. Congratulations to all those involved, who are doing a fantastic job of maintaining the community’s well-being.

SO…this is where we part ways. I hope you enjoyed this piece.

What did you think about this? Have you been to this cafe yet? If so what did you think and what did you have?

HI Ellie, I haven’t been to the cafe yet, but after reading your blog I hope to go down as soon as. It looks lovely inside, nice and cosy. So thank you again for sharing this.
