Is it normal to feel lost in your 20s?

I feel like I’m stumbling through life these days without a map. My twenties were meant to be spent discovering my people and establishing my ideal profession. Rather, I find myself caught between expectations and reality, observing those who seem to have it all worked out while I find it difficult to even define what I want. I thought that I needed to find something right away after high school, but I didn’t since it wasn’t for me and I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Two weeks into my final year of high school, I wasn’t enjoying it. They imposed the notion that you must know what you want to accomplish and that you must either do this or attend university. I have a slight idea but I have no idea where or how to start, especially in such a small town.

Some days, it feels like I’m running out of time. Society makes it seem like success has a deadline—like I should have a five-year plan, a thriving career, and a perfect social life. But honestly? I have more questions than answers.

What I’m slowly realizing is that feeling lost isn’t a failure—it’s part of the process. Growth isn’t linear, and there’s no set timeline for figuring things out. Maybe life isn’t about having a clear destination, but about embracing the detours, learning from uncertainty, and giving myself grace along the way.

If you’re feeling lost too, just know you’re not alone. We’re all navigating this messy decade together. And maybe, just maybe, we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.
